Natalie Goldberg Reading
This special event is a fundraiser for the Millay House Rockland Writer-in-Residence program.
Natalie Goldberg, best-selling author of Writing Down the Bones, will be reading from her new book—Writing on Empty: A Guide to Finding Your Voice. In conversation with host Meg Weston live on ZOOM, Natalie will talk about the book, her writing practice, and answer Q&A from the chat.
“At some point or another, nearly all writers suffer a spell when the aquifer of inspiration runs dry. With Writing On Empty, Natalie Goldberg has written a sagacious and at times surprisingly funny memoir about her own dry spell—a chronicle that will also serve as an elegant instruction manual for others on how to write through the inevitable desolate patches to rekindle the banked fires of creativity.”
—Hampton Sides, bestselling author of Ghost Soldiers and Blood and Thunder
All ticket sales ($25) proceeds will go to the Millay House in Rockland, Maine. For more information about their newly established Writer-in-Residence program go to www.millayhouserockland.org. To the Point and Back Reading
Join Us Sunday August 11 at 2:00 at the Breezemere Bandstand on Norton Pond in Lincolnville for a poetry reading with Margaret A. Haberman and Meg Weston reading from their collaborative collection of swimming poems — To the Point and Back.
In 2023, two friends decided to write a poem every time they swam. They both love swimming in open waters and they swam a lot that summer, sometimes alone, sometimes together, and they wrote a lot of poetry as a result of the challenge they gave themselves. A selection of poems became this book—a conversation between two friends, about friendship, swimming, and life.
Come early and bring a picnic and swim, and join us at 2:00 at the bandstand for poetry.
